Cybergothic point-and-click adventure game for PC

NORCO is a premium adventure game for PC made by developer Geography of Robots. It is a point-and-click title wherein players will be transported to a gothic-themed take on South Louisiana. In in, they'll explore the distorted suburbia, meet the locals, and get to know their stories.

Mixing the pixel aesthetic of Thimbleweed Park with the mature and dark tone of Dinner With An Owl, NORCO offers a unique experience with a compelling narrative that fans of the genre will enjoy. This demo version serves as a preview for the game's first story arc.

Gothic suburbia

NORCO is a point-and-click adventure game with a compelling narrative set in the suburbs of Southern Louisiana. Its dystopian take on a city sinking into the pitfalls of industrialism serves as an intriguing backdrop for the various characters you'll meet and the interactions to be had with them. All of this is presented in a distinct pixel art style with a dash of cybergothicism.

The main story in the game is all about the disappearance of your brother Blake after the wake of your mother's passing. To have a chance of finding him, you'll need to follow a rogue security android, taking you through the city's deep and dark underbelly. Along the way, you'll get to meet and interact with a wide cast of characters, each with their own stories and agendas.

Explore Louisiana and parts of Greater New Orleans as you search for your brother and unravel a mystery buried deep in the city's past, which may well affect its future. On a side note, some of the stories and quests can feel out of place and disjointed from one another at times. As a result of that, the immersive experience does take a hit a little bit.

Rich worldbuilding

If you're a fan of narrative-driven games, then NORCO is one that you should include in your list of considerations. Its design and presentation are just spot on, the story is compelling, and exploring its ever-unfolding world is satisfying. While it does skip a beat in some places, it's not enough to detract from the whole experience. This is an easy recommendation.

PROS

  • Unique cybergothic theme
  • Intriguing narrative
  • Immersive worldbuilding

CONS

  • The stories can feel a bit disjointed in some parts of the narrative
